CHC43115 CERTIFICATE IV IN DISABILITY

Disability Care

This qualification prepares workers to work in residential group homes, training resource centers, day respite centers and open employment services, other community settings and clients’ homes. Students will learn to apply the knowledge and skills, gained through the qualification, to provide training and support to people with disabilities that will enhance their ability to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance and community participation.

  • Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisites for this qualification. It is recommended that students are 16 years of age or older and have a sound understanding of English, good communication and interpersonal skills.

You will also be required to obtain a National Police Clearance check and in some jurisdictions a Working with Vulnerable People check. We would expect however that you potentially work in the industry or have had some previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or Care Giver.

  • Duration

The course duration is 6 months (18 weeks without term breaks and public holidays) with students attending 1 day a week for 6.5 hours each day. This includes all learning and assessment activities.

Students will also complete 120 hours of mandatory work placement outside of the classroom face to face timings.

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
