- Course Details:
Purpose: This training provides the skills and knowledge required to provide an emergency first aid response for people having an Asthma attack or a severe allergic reaction, known as Anaphylaxis. The purpose of the training is to provide skills to manage a casualty for these conditions until the arrival of medical or other assistance. The course provides special training in the use of auto injectors (EpiPen and Anapen) for Anaphylactic reactions and the use of inhalers and spacing devices for Asthma attacks.
The course is ideal for people working in Education and Childcare settings who need to gain a mandatory qualification or refresh and recertify.
- Anaphylaxis:
This unit describes the outcomes required to assist a person suffering an anaphylactic reaction until the arrival of medical assistance. Application of this unit relates to the use of adrenaline auto-injecting devices, (e.g. EpiPen®).
The unit covers the recognition, management, prevention and risk minimisation strategies related to allergic reactions and anaphylaxis. It provides the outcomes required to develop and implement a management plan to reduce the risk of severe reactions in individuals diagnosed with anaphylaxis.

Successful completion of this component of the course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to be able to develop an asthma management plan and provide asthma related first aid interventions in the workplace. This national program was specifically designed for the management of asthma emergencies in specialist workplaces including, schools, childcare and early education settings and aged and community care.
- Qualification Issued:
You will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment covering two accredited units of competency. A refresher course is recommended every 3 years.
- No Pre-requisites
There are no prerequisites or previous experience required.
Duration: 6 hours
