Course Overview

This qualification is suitable for people working in a Work Health and Safety (WHS) role who provide leadership and guidance to others and have some limited responsibility for the output of others. The qualification reflects the role of workers who apply a broad knowledge base and well developed skills in a wide variety of contexts and may include coordinators, advisor’s and facilitators.

This is a new qualification and has been updated to reflect changes and trends in the WHS field.

This course is now the minimum requirement for WHS management in most workplaces.

General Entry Requirements

This courses requires a significant amount of reading and writing and participants will be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment prior to enrolment.

Access to a computer and the internet is required away from class to conduct research and submit assessment.

Pre-requisites:

There are no pre-requisites for this course however preferred pathways into the program may include the following:

  • BSB30715 Certificate III in Work Health and Safety; or
  • Vocational experience in work health and safety roles.

Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the qualification requirements, participants will be awarded BSB41415 Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety..

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you work in the industry,have had prior experience or would like to seek recognition for a combination of skills and experience, RPL is available for this course. See Training NSW RPL Candidate Guide for an explanation of the RPL process and then ask our staff if you are interested.

Course Duration

Full course (blended delivery): Face to face in a classroom environment combined with self paced study away from class.

  • We allow a maximum of 10 months to complete the course. You will complete 600 hours of study, including 5 days a week for 4 weeks in a classroom, combined with study and research away from class completing activities and assessments. You will complete 10 Units of Competency in total.
  • With dedication and a concerted effort you can complete your required hours much earlier.

Distance Learning: This course is also available to study by distance learning through use of our e-learning platform. All materials are provided electronically and students can communicate through the student portal with their trainer/assessor and other students and cam use the portal to retrieve learning material and upload assessments. You have up to 12 months to complete if you choose to study via distance mode.
