The CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support is ideally for people already employed in the Aged Care sector, who wish to further develop their responsibilities and expertise. It is a common pathway into team leader or management roles and is recognised as a solid pathway to Enrolled and Registered Nursing.
Working in Aged Care is a rewarding career choice that makes a real difference to the quality of people’s lives. If you wish to work in this field, you must demonstrate genuine compassion for elderly people and empathy when dealing with others.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support, however a preferred pathway into the program would be after completing:
- CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or;
- CHC30212 Certificate III in Aged Care (old qualification but provides a solid background with similar concepts and techniques).
Those already working in the industry would also be very well placed to undertake this training.
Units and Structure
- Duration
The course duration is 6 months (18 weeks without term breaks and public holidays) with students attending 1 day a week for 6.5 hours each day. This includes all learning and assessment activities.
Students will also complete 120 hours of mandatory work placement outside of the classroom face to face timings.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
If you work in the industry,have had prior experience or would like to seek recognition for a combination of skills and experience, RPL is available for this course. See Training NSW RPL Candidate Guide for an explanation of the RPL process and then ask our staff if you are interested.
- Learning Pathways
With CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support you may be eligible for advanced standing in the following courses:
- Diploma of Community Services Coordination
- Certificate IV and Diploma courses in Community Welfare Work, Mental Health, Disability and Alcohol and Other Drug Work
- Recognition toward Enrolled and Registered Nursing
