Project Description
This qualification is suited to individuals who are responsible for security and risk management. This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills to evaluate security vulnerability and risk, as well as develop security counter measures for their organisation or clients across a broad security spectrum including, IT Security, Physical and Personal Security, Data Security and Commercial Security. The course is best suited to those who are employed and working in the security industry and are ready to advance and take on roles at the middle management level or who wish to work as an independent security consultant and contractor. This course is mandatory for those who wish to obtain their NSW Class 2A (Security Consultant) licence.
Course Objective
The CPP40707 Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management incorporates leadership and management skills and combines these with the processes for evaluating, developing, advising and implementing security risk management strategies and plans, based on security principles. The qualification is the one of the most sought after nationally recognised qualifications within the security industry.
The objectives of the course are to give you the competencies to conduct an assessment of potential risks facing an organisation and the development of strategies and plans to mitigate that risk. That can involve simple solutions from assessment and advice, through to more complex strategies including procurement of equipment, changes to procedure and process and project managing a risk management plan from inception to implementation.
Entry Requirements
- There are no pre-requisite entry requirements for these programs; however we would expect you already work in the security industry and at a minimum hold a NSW Class 1AC Licence, although these are not mandatory for this course. We would also expect that you exhibit a strong sense of leadership and focus, as this course ideally suits those who are serious about progressing and maintaining a career in the security industry.
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- You will need to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy test aligned to the Australian Core Skills Framework.
- You will need access to a personal computer or laptop and the internet to conduct self paced study away from the classroom.
- Please bring one form of valid photo identification for enrolment: Passport, Drivers Licence, RMS photo ID card, Security Licence.

- On completion you can progress to the CPP50611 Diploma of Security and Risk Management for further study.
Course Duration:
- The course is run as a distance learning program, studying self paced over 12 months. You can commence at any time with access to all learning and assessment materials via the student portal. You will be allocated an online trainer/assessor who you can communicate with via the messaging function in the student portal. You may finish earlier depending on how many hours you can commit to each week and your prior experience in the industry.
Accreditation:
Upon completion, you will receive the nationally accredited CPP40707 Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management.
